Studio Work

tones tales tape

Over the years I have been priviledged to participate in many recording projects. After all, I worked as a commercial sound engineer for a long time; that guarantees a "studio tan" pretty much all year long.

I am also active as a session player, adding guitars, banjo, mandolin, pedal steel to tracks. I've worked for a couple of producers I'd like to mention: Former Manhattan-based now residing in Maui Mark Epstein (you may know Mark as the bass player in Johnny Winter's band for many years and as a current member of guitar virtuoso Joe Bonamassa's band). One of the most gifted and inspired musicians I've ever known, Mark is in turn an inspiration to work with. This is a guy who knows how to get a take out of you!!! Then there's Vic Steffans. Besides being an incredible musician and recordist, Vic has been a great friend and mentor, and thank-you's are not enough for the lessons I learn every time I record with him at Horizon Studio. Mark Time Studio's Mark Mirando has the sweetest touch with a pop song. Mark writes gorgeous tunes with collaborators like Nashville-based songwriter Gary Burr and fellow October Moon mate Jim Paradis. And to top it off, Mark sings harmony on Ringo's latest cd!!

I have produced a bunch of things over the years-www.dicknealproductions.com has more info--including the new Marc Douglas Berardo cd HARBOR. I also record Marc's brother Chris and his act the Desberardos, IGNORING ALL THE WARNING SIGNS for Lamon Records being the most recent. And I released my first solo album HOE in 2005.
